The Department of Infrastructure Transport Regional Development and Communications

The Australian Government, through the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communication’s Territories Division, provides funding to the Christmas Island Community Resource Centre to provide services to the island.

The Australian Government, through the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development administers the Ashmore and Cartier Islands, Christmas Island, the Cocos (Keeling) Islands, the Coral Sea Islands, and the Jervis Bay Territory. The Department also manages the Government's interests in the Australian Capital Territory, the Northern Territory and Norfolk Island.

Christmas Island is located in the Indian Ocean, 2605 kilometres north-west of Perth and 490 kilometres south-west of Jakarta, Indonesia (approximate figures using international airports). The Island has an area of 137.4 square kilometres, and includes the Christmas Island National Park (135 square kilometres), which is administered by Parks Australia.

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, State Government Division, manages the funding provided by the Australian Government to provide support for the Christmas Island Community Resource Centre in the provision of services to the island.

The Western Australian Government delivers services to the Indian Ocean Territories, funded by the Australian Government. The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development are just one of many departments with Service Delivery Agreements for the Indian Ocean Territories, of which one of their services include providing support for the Community Resource Centres in the Indian Ocean Territories.
